Meet The Runaway Hounds and their latest single Nightlight

Four piece Indie Rock band The Runaway Hounds are an emerging force from the Wolverhampton music scene creating an energetic sound they’re a band to watch out for in 2019.

Made up of twin brothers Owen (Vocals) and Kent (lead guitar) Stevenuiter and close friends Dan Glover (Bass) and drummer Callum Ford (who they found after a search on Instagram). They’ve taken inspiration from the likes of The Arctic Monkeys, Catfish And The Bottlemen and Peace to master their own sound.

Today sees the release of their third single ‘Nightlight’ a song which puts guitar first and with relatable lyrics about feeling lost in the world and twisted sleeping patterns, it’s a track with a good beat, exciting instrumentals and captivating British vocals. A number which shows that the four piece have a bright 2019 ahead of them.

Owen explains more about drawing on his own lifestyle to write ‘Nightlight’: “So the song is about my own experiences of having a highly irregular sleep pattern. I spent most my nights sleeping when everyone would be waking up and vice versa. The song explores how strange life gets when you live like that.”

“I thought the best way to deal with the frustration of that was to write a song about it so at 5am I sat with a guitar and it all came together quite quickly.”

Kent adds: “We usually write a lot of our own parts for our instruments but with Nightlight Owen had quite a vivid image for what he wanted. Some songs take us months to write but this one fell together really quickly so that within a week or two we were already playing it live.”

After the release of their debut single ‘Rattlesnake’ and second single ‘Sophie’ (A fabulous name for a song if I do say so myself!…) they’ve been championed by BBC introducing and have been touring the up and down the UK.

What have they got planned for 2019? Quite a lot it seems, Owen says: “We’re already sitting on another track at the moment which we recorded in the studio and we are really excited about it.”

“We’re also constantly writing more tracks so there’s a lot more to come! There’s also the gigging too which we love!”

Nightlight is available to stream on Spotify now.
