Wondering Why – The Covasettes

It’s been six months since upcoming Manchester quartet The Covasettes released their debut single, and I got a cheeky listen to their exciting new track before it comes out Friday.

Wondering Why is a very mature song to say it’s their second single, they sound like a band who have been together for years. Lead vocalist Chris Buxton, 21, describes it as “the most confusing love song of all time.”

True to his word the lyrics certainly tell the tale of liking someone who keeps all their eggs in one basket. The band (Matt Hewlett, Jamie McIntyre and Matt Buckley) compose the instrumentals, while Chris writes all the lyrics.

He says: “We wanted to write a proper anthem and give people a song which they can really get behind, I think Wondering Why ticks all those boxes!”

It’s certainly got some head banging moments and the chorus is super catchy, both in lyrics and melody – listen to it once and you’ll get it stuck in your head for sure!

Chris explains why: “We wanted to make a really big tune that’s in your face from the first drum hit, and it pretty much stays that way throughout”.

If you’re a fan of You Me At Six mixed with a bit of All Time Low, then these guys are definitely worth having a listen to. They have mixes of both of them, all while showcasing their own sound.

Chris concludes: “We want to pick up the pace a bit with releases this year as we have so many songs recorded”

Great news for fans who can listen and download Wondering Why this Friday (March 9th) on iTunes and Spotify, and catch them on their remaining tour dates in Manchester (March 17th) and Derby (April 7th).
